Horary: Will This Relationship Work? #
Setting Up the Chart #
Relationship questions use the first house ruler as the querent’s significator and the seventh house ruler as the other person’s significator. The condition, dignity, and mutual reception of these two planets provide the primary testimony. The Moon serves as co-significator and general narrator of the situation’s development.
Key Indicators of Success #
The strongest positive indicators include: the two significators applying to a conjunction or trine with mutual reception; the Moon translating light between the significators; both significators in good essential dignity (suggesting that both parties are in a strong position to participate constructively); and the significators in angular houses (suggesting that both parties are active and engaged rather than passive or unavailable).
Mutual reception between the significators is particularly telling – it indicates that both people genuinely value and are invested in the other, regardless of the aspect’s geometry.
Key Indicators of Difficulty #
Warning signs include: significators separating rather than applying (the connection is moving apart); one or both significators in poor dignity (the person is in a weakened or compromised condition); prohibition by a third planet (an outside factor or person interfering); and the other person’s significator retrograde (they are reconsidering or pulling away).
The absence of any aspect between significators, even with translation, suggests that the relationship lacks the momentum to develop further in its current form.
Common Complications #
Venus and Mars are considered natural significators of love and desire, so their condition adds supplementary information regardless of which planets serve as primary significators. A debilitated Venus in a relationship question adds a general caution about the relational climate. A strong Mars may indicate passion but also potential conflict.
Reading the Outcome #
The aspect type between significators describes the quality of the relationship if it does proceed. A trine suggests ease and natural compatibility. A square suggests ongoing friction that may be productive but demanding. An opposition suggests awareness and polarity that requires conscious effort to bridge.
